Theuns Potgieter – owner of Ouhoek Safaris – was brought up in a small town called Brits in North-West. His father was also a dedicated hunter, but unfortunately lost his leg.
Theuns always had this dream of hunting with his father when he grew up, but this dream was never fulfilled. And with this, he realised that the world is full of dreams…
As a 14 year old boy, he had another big dream: to become the owner of a hunting farm in South Africa. But he realized that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to make your dreams come true.
At the age of 14 he started to work towards this dream. He tried just about everything to make some money in order for his dream to be fulfilled.
With the money he saved he started hunting on weekends and became a lover of nature and wild animals. At the age of 16 he started farming with vegetables on a small scale as well and through this dedication and hard work his dream became a reality. He then bought the game farm, Ouhoek Safaris in 2003.
A third dream started in his heart and that was to share this hunting opportunity with other nationalities. He started in 2003 to hunt with overseas-clients. This business expands so quickly that he joined up with one of South Africa’s most experienced professional hunters, Tjaart van der Walt.
Tjaart was brought up in the bushveld while his father made a living out of hunting (today one of the best breeders of buffalo and sable antelope). To hunt with Tjaart as your guide, is definitely an experience that you will never forget.
These hunts became so popular that our nickname in Spain was called “EL REY DEL FACOCHERO” which means King of Warthog.
A unique hunting experience awaits! With traditional (African) accommodation on a farm situated in the pleasant bushveld of the Limpopo Province and an extensive variety of animal species ranging from the tiny Steenbuck to the Cape Eland, this will most certainly be a highlight for any hunter.
